Integrated Task

Step 1: Reading [5 minutes]

Read the passage. On a piece of paper, take notes on the main points of the reading passage. Spend only 5 minutes on reading and note taking.

Acme Accounting Company was facing a serious problem with tardiness, a problem that was beginning to have an impact on the success of the company. It had become extremely common for junior accountants to arrive late in the morning and return late again after lunch. Junior accountants had been coming late, with impunity, for so long that it was commonplace for each junior accountant to average missing one hour of work per day due to tardiness.

Because the problem was so serious, the company president asked members of the senior staff to submit plans for dealing with the junior accountants' tardiness. The company president wanted to consider various plans submitted to him by his senior staff and then come to a decision about the best plan to follow.

The members of the senior staff submitted plans in writing. One of the plans called for make-up time for work missed. According to this plan, if a junior accountant is an hour late arriving at work, then he or she has to stay an hour late to make up the work that he or she missed.

The other plan submitted by one of the senior staff presented a different way of dealing with the problem of tardiness: this plan involved subtracting pay from the salaries of junior accountants who are late for work. According to this plan, if a junior accountant arrives at work an hour late one day, then an hour's pay is subtracted from the junior accountant's salary check.

The company president wanted to consider these two plans before coming to a final decision about how to deal with the problem.

The reading passage and the lecture discuss about the problem about the time working

of junior accountants in Acme Accounting Company.
According to the passage, the problem is some members of the company often come to work late.

This has a serious effect on the company. So, the president wants all the members to

show some solutions. The first solution is one must have an extratime after everyone comes

home if he or she has come to work late. By this way, as in the lecture, junior accountants

can make their own hours for work. Moreover, they also show another solution. It is the

company will cut down their payments at the end of the month if they go to work late in this

month. Because if one goes to work late, the company's works will be delayed. So, quality of

company will reduce and this has a deep effect on company.
After discussing and generalizing these ideas, the president decides to combine to

solutions to apply to person who is late for work. It is believed to decrease the tardiness

problem of this company.

This dicussion about the solution of punishing people who come to a company late.
According to the reading passage, they have two options. Frist option is forcing the workers to work extra time. For example, if they go to work late 1 hour, they will stay late at the company more 1 hour. Second option is cutting down their income. So, it is not easy to choose the best solution. In this option, coming late 1 hour means they must be received less 1 hour's salary.
According to the listening passage, they talk about the disvandage of 2 solutions. If the president company punishes the person who is not on time by working more hours, they can go to work anytime they want. And it's not the best solution. On the other hand, cutting down their salary seems to be the best solution. But coming to work late means making the company loose so much work hours. It will be the bad effect on their company. Therefore, it's hard to choose which is the best option. Lastly, the company decides to use 2 optins at the same time. It means if someone who is not on time, they must be received less salary and work more time.

The passage and the listenning talk about junior accountant's lateness in a company and the president want senior staffs help to give solutions to solve this problem.

In the reading, there are two plans proposed. The first one is that if the junior staffs commits that mistate for one hour late, they have to stay at company to work for another one. The second solution is that the juniors will be subtracted their salaries for one hours committing.

However, in the listenning, the speaker say that the first solution can not stop this issue when it make the juniors see it as happeness. Additionally, in the second solution, this plan also can not help company to stop this mistate because the company will lose one working time for each of one hour late. The reading talks about the company's problem and two solutions while the listening adds more information about that.
According to the reader, the problem is that the junior employees are not puntial for their work and that causes serious damage for the company. Therefore, the two seniors bring two solution. The first solution is that they get the juniors to compensate for the time they miss. If they come to work one hour late then they have to stay one hour to work for the missed time. The second solution is to cut down on their salaries based on their missed time. If they are late one hour, the company will cut one hour's money of their salaries.
In the listening, the first solution can reduce the company's damage but it doesn't actually stop the problem. Because the juniors can controll their time and decide to arrive late one hour and then stay up one hour to finish their work. The second solution can stop the problem but it can't help the company avoid loosing work. Because if the juniors keep arriving late, they still lose work. Therefore, the president finally decides to apply both the first solution and the second solution on the juniors.

- Topic:Some people say that parents are the best teachers. Have your parents been good teachers to you? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
- Essay:
Throughout my life, I have been lucky to have a very close relasionship with my parents. They supported me, gave me a lot of comments (criticisms and compliments) about how to live my life. Nowadays, I matured, and had a good job so that in my Experiences, I received that parents can be good teachers.
First of all, my parents as teachers, they taught me not only subjects in my school (history, math, or other subjects) but also playing social activities. Perhaps, my parents were too close to their children, they understood weakness points, trong points, From there, they were easy to share emotions and backgrounds which they had. For example, during my school life, My parent taught me all the subjects, I had not learnt any subjects from tutoring classes
Secondly, my parents also taught more than subjects. They taught me way of behaviour with anyone that were kind and honest. Especially, that are clever way when troubles happended. For example, I remember, I drove around the city by motocycle, I saw a handbag on the street. I picked it up and I confused what I did. I brough it to my home. Then, my parents ask me to bring it to the police station. When I went to the police station, the owner already waited for me in long run. I returned it for them, I felt the happyness on their faces.
Afther that, I promise myselft that althought I will become anyone, but I still think my parents always are good teacher.
