A morning coffee

Without a word, he takes the parking ticket and heads upstairs. No one is there, and there is no sound except for the soft music. He likes it. He takes the seat near the balcony as usual. The waiter is already familiar with this customer, so he serves him an ice tea and puts a menu on the table without bothering him. "A hot white coffee please", says the customer. The waiter replies with a nod and a smile and takes the menu away...
The man sits still for some minutes. Today is not a usual day for him. He made a tough decision yesterday, and it made him another bad night consequently. He was restless, and he even had a nightmare, which is very rare for his whole life. So he had to wake up early with a bad headache, and he had a feeling that he could do but nothing today. Anyway, he got to get up, and he took a shower in a hurry since it is rather late in his routine. Before leaving home, he checked his cell phone, and he looked a bit disappointed to find no message. He rushed to the cafe as if he was for a very important meeting. And now there he is, half an hour later than other days.
The waiter returns with a cup of coffee, and that wakes the man. He switches his view to the coffee cup, and subconsciously pulls his cell out of the pocket to check for messages again. Nothing happens. Something went wrong? He hates that idea. Why he cares if something wrong when the care is not needed? He gently shakes his head and puts the cell standing against him. The cell is counting toward 745. There is nothing he can do. He cannot stop the time, nor can he do anything to make something happen. He keeps focusing on the clock counter to make him busy. Nothingness. Emptiness. Loneliness. The decision he made yesterday was intended to put an end to this feeling. Still it sticks to him - a mixed feeling. It is not lovesick; it is something worse than that. But what is it?... It is 815… It is 816... Now he knows that it will not happen. He fakes a smile and call for the bill. Before standing up, he looks at the seat on his right with a faint sight. Nothingness. Emptiness. Loneliness. He turns away, pays the bill, and grabs his stuff downstairs.
The coffee is untouched...

Maybe the thing/person is not so fearful as ya think :D. Whats more, it is just a routine day of him, which means he is supposed to be there to meet someone - so he was there, and thus its not hopeless. Maybe he just wanna keeps a promise or something. He did that with a purpose: he is perfectly NORMAL

I don't think it is a good way if that man still keeps waiting for a hopeless thing... How and when he will get back to normal...?
I can't say anything for him but if I were him, I would run away from that fearful thing/person as soon as possible.
